THE ARTIST
FEBRUARY 26, 2012

Congratulations to the best movie released in 2011.  When I walked in the movie theater the lights were low but still enough light to see the seating.  The lighting was not the problem I found it was the fact that there were very few seats left available.  Usually I can arrive slightly before the upcoming previews begin to roll and still have the pick of seating.

Not for "The Artist" there were a limited amount of seats available and only a couple of those had a good view of the screen.  I wiggled between a group in the last row which allowed me to crawl over the back of the seat if I needed to leave the theater for any reason (bathroom or snacks).

Once I sat down relaxing and preparing for what may be the most boring hour or so I took a quick glance at those seated in the theater.  Some of the audience consisted of those who may have been youngsters when the final silent film was released.  The crowd was older probably here to relive their youth through this film.  Then the last of the open seats began to fill with college age students who may have been requested by their theater major professor to view this film.

As the movie began all I could think of was I really needed to see this film first as I just came from viewing "Albert Nobbs".  Ten minutes into the film I am completely engulfed in the storyline barely noticing how quickly time is flying by.  When "The End" filled the screen at the conclusion of the film the audience finally took another breath.

Uggie as Jack (the dog) won the audience over in every scene. We love you Uggie enjoy your retirement.
