David Wheeler "The liberty of any person to own a military style assault weapon in a high capacity magazine and keep them in their home is second to the right of my son to his life." We have to say that the impact this man's speech to the Connecticut's Bipartisan Task Force on Gun Violence Prevention and Children's Safety at Newtown High School on Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2013 was when he spoke of the loss of his 6 year old son Benjamin Wheeler.

Things to think about: "My father was a hunter and his training came in World War II when he was a sharp shooter.  Unlike today's military technology dad hung out of planes in his suit which protected him from the elements of being in low levels of oxygen and cold as they flew so high above ground.  His military training made him a responsible gun owner never having his rifles accessible to children.  As a hunter he would have never used an assault weapon because what exactly would be left of an animal after being gun downed?

We need to start by making it illegal to make, sell or distribute these weapons with a guilty verdict holding the death penalty.  Sadly some of the people who make & sell these weapons legally or illegally are financing politicians which push the media to enrage gun owners into believing they need these weapons for protection.  If someone mows you down with their assault weapon you are dead as your own counter balancing assault weapon lays in your locked gun cabinet.  We believe in the right to protect yourself and to bear arms but high power assault weapons legally or illegally are beyond necessity.  When the right to bear arms was first put into writing in the United States Bill of Rights and becoming law as part of the Second Amendment to the United States Constitution on December15, 1791 the assault weapons of today were not even created yet.  The photo we have attached is of the most powerful weapon on 1791 when the American population was 3.9 million compared to 2013's 315 million.

Let us not forget the need of our categorically listed mental patients in conjunction with the close access to weapons whether they are hand guns, rifles or high powered assault weapons.  Republicans have stood on the podium of less special interest funding and these to potential data bases would fall under special interest need for cash.  How do we weight the need with our ever growing financial depth where does children's safety rise to the top of the list.

It is already a fact that teachers pay most often becomes part of their ability to teach.  This means that as teachers salary goes down their ability to fund their own classrooms becomes diminished.  Most teachers use their own income to print out work sheets, study guides and other necessary materials need to do their job.  School books rarely exist anymore and students are often shocked that there are such a thing as they enter their college years.  So if we take such little interest in their education why would we think their safety was any more important.  Many republicans want to eliminate public schools altogether over the next 20 years forcing parents to pay for private school.  This would keep the rich in the extremely wealthy category as only children of wealthy parents would eventually circulate the high pay scale jobs of the future.  Children with financially struggling households with even the smartest of children would have no access to education.

Lets stop the violence address the need for a better system to track guns with a yearly registration, lets build a data base for the mentally ill and allow these two databases to be interacting for better safety in this country.  We as a county who put these politicians in office demand that they begin earning their paychecks by coming to some resolve in keeping the innocent protected while allowing people to continue to bear arms.
