Today's Kudos go out to all the great people working at the Kenmore branch library.  At times i know i give them a lot of work to do and they always greet and treat me with a smile of pleasantry.  I hope that come January 1, 2011 these faces do not change.  I often stand in line and my pile of ordered items will appear on the counter no matter how far back in line i am.  I could easily drive to another library and pick up the items i need.  But why when at the Kenmore library they do not make you stand in line to ask a question and get directed to another line to ask a different person the same question only to have to go back to the first line again to check out.   At the Kenmore library branch you get full service and you only have to stand in line once.  There is only one of two libraries left in the Kenmore-Tonawanda district and this branch is often overwhelmed with patrons asking questions, needing assistance and begging for the latest items to be on hand.  The associates are  always helpful, friendly and courteous and need to be rewarded for all that they do.  Rewarding them by eliminating their jobs is not the way they should be treated.  Special thank you's to amy, Joyce, Jeanie, Nicole, Andy, Wendy, earl and molly at the Kenmore branch library in the Erie county district for all you do.

I have utilized most of the libraries in Erie county (new york) at one time or another to complete research for classes i was taking during high school and college.  I have needed to take advantage of some or all that the libraries offer to research information for work.

Our libraries can sometimes work with schools and community organizations to help curb illiteracy and promote learning.  I loved to read as a kid and not always were there funds for books so i took advantage of my local library.  Shouldn't all children have this choice?

If you feel this way please express it and here are some people who are responsible for seeing our libraries stay open as well as have the power to reduce them in 2011:
