When the news began to spread Saturday night that Whitney Houston had passed away on the eve of the Grammy's everyone involved in the show began to scramble to put a package together to honor one of the greatest voices to come out of the 80's.
It was obvious who the choice would be to sing one of Whitney Houston's greatest song ever. "I will Always Love You" from the block buster film "THE BODYGUARD" starring Kevin Costner and Whitney Houston achieved more acclaim than the movie as it showcased her talents as a singer. Her beauty on screen matched with her vocal capabilities propelled her even deeper into the hearts of her fans. With every performance she seemed to gain the respect of new people who would instantly gravitate to her.
Hudson now the soul ownership of the American equivalent to Houston as she sang out in grand fashion. She looks even better than her last commercial for Weight Watchers, dressed in black with the lights down low accompanied only by a piano belted out the show stopper of the evening. Her elegance spilled over into her performance at a rate of 100% and even though it was advertised that Nicki Minaj's nights finale would be the talk at tomorrows water cooler it could not hold a candle to Hudson.
Hudson continues to prove the judges at "American Idol" really have no idea of true talent. Fantasia Barrino should have not only not won but should have never made the cut over Jennifer Hudson. She continues to prove that the judges are not qualified to make decisions on who is the best. What are their qualifications: singer, music executive and comedian. This does not give you the tools to decide who is the better talent because we all know in their own environment it is about the money that will impact who will be great.
Hudson has the talent and continues to pursue some of the greatest stages to execute her talent. No matter if she is in a Broadway hit show or touring as a solo artist she is better than anyone who followed her elimination on "American Idol" season three.
