INTERNET SENSATION
Charlie Puth and Emily Luther were a YouTube hit with 1,210,097 clicks that were soon brought to the attention of Ellen who knows talent when she sees it. Never wasting time she put the duo to work soon after signing them to her record label, ELEVENELEVEN. The sensation they made on YouTube is only the tip of the iceberg as they performed live on The Ellen Degeneres Show.
When the first note hit you could hear a pin drop as the audience did not move while letting Charlie build the mood on piano. Then Emily began to sing and it was clear that no one was even stirring in their seats because they were glued to the performance.
Oprah had her book club and Ellen has her music. Oprah wanted more stories brought to woman of color but never letting it overpower her book club recommending great books for all women each and every month. It allowed her to give back and connect with her audience. Ellen is bringing that same style to her show not through books but with music. Most would think that with her comedy background she would use it to bring new talented comedians up the ranks. Audiences often dictate the branches a show will have and Ellen's viewers love the dancing which goes hand in hand with music. So it is a no brainer that musicians would be the branch that would grow.
The first few artists signed were young YouTube sensations, Greyson Chance, Tom Andrews and Savannah Robinson it did not take long until she snagged an already established musician. Jessica Simpson signed a deal in November 2010 but has only released a Christmas cd on ELEVENELEVEN in conjunction with EMI and PRIMARY
WAVE MUSIC.
Now Charlie Puth and Emily Luther are the latest artists to board the ELEVENELEVEN bus to stardom. Ellen's status has increased ten-fold since the retirement of THE OPRAH WINFREY SHOW and her power is as simple as a wave of the hand as she introduces her next future star. THE OPRAH WINFREY SHOW was simply known as Oprah and now THE ELLEN DEGENERES SHOW is just Ellen.
Every office now has a water cooler since no one who knows anything about our water system wants to drink tap water. The proverbial "water Cooler gossip" is all about who Ellen's new find was the day before. The fun she brings to the show is easy when you are not a wound to tight demanding boss. She encourages everyone on her staff to have fun and it comes across during every episode. So if there is any personality who can lay out the red carpet and have the best interest of her client be number one.
