TRAFFIC LIGHT
FEBRUARY 8, 2011-MAY 31, 2011
This new comedy series on FOX has a great time slot following Raising Hope on Tuesday nights. The pilot episode was slow to get off the ground. The first two acts seem to drag on without pushing the storyline.
The writers began rushing the audience with immense amounts of information on each character. It could have been a rewrite of the second half of the episode. It was almost as if the first and second parts of the 21 minute episode were written with completely different writers.
This concept of three couples in different positions in life has been done before. “Perfect Couples” has tried to build this story base but the writers have been unable to give the characters interesting build-up. “Traffic Light” has taken the reins and after a ten minute lull has been able to give humor with substance to each character.
Throughout the episode the humor keeps the viewer involved until the second half kicks in full force. If the FOX network continues with Raising Hope followed by Traffic Light, then these two comedies will have a potential for a second season.
David Denman (Mike), Nelson Franklin (Adam) and Kris Marshall (Ethan) are a winning combination. Each actor contributes his own brand of comedy to the characters they portray. Liza Lapira (Lisa) and Aya Cash (Callie) could not have been cast any better for the ladies of traffic light.
