 MAN UP!

OCTOBER 18, 2011-DECEMBER 6, 2011

All the networks are putting an effort into an ensemble cast of manly characters.  Each show has a foundation of well meaning men who have such childish behavior that it is insulting that any one of them would be married.  TRAFFIC LIGHT, LOVE BITES and now MAN UP! let's think about where America is going wrong.  They are trying to portray men that are always needing to be "The Man", which can be an over the top attitude.  The concept and motivation have the best intentions and are done in a non sarcastic manner but they are lukewarm in laughter.

"Warm and fuzzy" rarely translates in the half hour sitcom genre.  By the time most boys are old enough to watch shows like this directed toward a more adult audience, it will be hard to change their way of thinking.  The concept does not translate to the small screen with any humor and resonates with the times even less.

This type of half hour comedy has its own category here at RUSTYSCAGE.COM, Stupid Comedy.  SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE humor is good for the late night Saturday viewers but has little place during prime-time.  Sarcastic comedy has turned into mocking comedy and it may get a laugh or two but for laugh out loud great comedy with amazing writing we will stick to MIKE & MOLLY, THE MIDDLE, @ BROKE GIRLS, MELISSA & JOEY, HOT IN CLEVELAND, COUGAR TOWN and WILFRED.
