THE TALK

OCTOBER 18, 2010-PRESENT

The women of the talk are: Julie Chen, Sara Gilbert, Holly Robinson Peete, Sharon Osbourne and Leah Remini.  Television personalities have found a home on the cbs network that should be around a long time.  It gives the audience what "the view" can not. Real woman who enjoy their families and need an outlet for discussing life's challenges is the basis for the show.

After watching several installments, the roles and beliefs of each personality come through whether strong or shy.  This group will have an impact because of their warm, sensitive understanding that being cruel with sarcasm is not the way to win an audience.  Although remini can push the envelope with meanness there is no hate that walks inside it.

Julie Chen is best known on daytime television for co-anchoring "the early show" on CBS.  Her nighttime fans know her best as the host of "big brother" since its debut in July 2000.  Chen leaves her queens childhood behind as she brings elegance and maturity to the table of “the talk.”

Sara Gilbert, best known for her role as Darlene Conner-Healy on  "Roseanne", ABC’s hit sitcom from the 1980’s.  She gives a true west coast vibe with her laid-back, relaxed, lovable disposition that is able to melt into any conversation.  Her personal lifestyle brings a different perspective to the daily conversations.  It also makes the viewers aware that even though her lifestyle is diverse her thoughts and views at times are just the same as everyone else.  Sara's calm, mature nature will be the balance to the table of “the talk.”.

Holly Robinson Peete is best known for her role on the newly formed FOX TV network show "21 jump street".  She went on to star in "Hangin with Mr. Cooper" as mark’s (mark curry) roommate as her rich parents cut her off from the funds that supplemented her indulgent squander.  From 1998-2002 she played the role of Malena Ellis on "for your love" on the wb network.  She is married to ex-football quarterback Rodney Peete who played the majority of his career for the Detroit Lions.  Their four children keep them extremely busy, which gives holly a perspective of a larger family to the table each day.  Their son, Rodney Jr., was diagnosed at age 3 with autism.  Holly brings strength and dedicated family values to the table of “The Talk.”

Sharon Osbourne is the wife of legendary heavy metal singer-songwriter front-man Ozzy Osbourne.  She is credited with keeping Ozzy on the right track with his musical career by taking over management duties from her father Don Arden in 1979.  Following the recording of "blizzard", there was nowhere for the two of them to go but up.  As they soared together through their business dealings, their personal relationship became just as powerful.  Sharon saw Ozzy through many dark days while often having to lead him out of dark places.  When they are together you can see the love and admiration that can not go unnoticed.  Sharon brings a salt and pepper love of a mother to the table of “the talk.”

Leah Remini is best known for her role on "king of queens" as Carrie Heffernan.  Her Brooklyn roots shined through as Mrs. Heffernan, the loving but often sarcastic better half to her husband Doug.  As a fifth of “the talk’, her tough, braising no holds barred attitude comes on full-force during every discussion.  This often comes off as over the top abrasiveness that makes it hard to differentiate between where Carrie ends and Leah begins.  Leah rarely reveals the warm and tender side of her personality.  During the short home movie clips that she makes of her daughter with husband, actor Angelo Pagan she gushes with love and sensitivity.  Leah brings toughness, backbone with a peppering of understanding to the table of “the talk.”

TODAY'S SHOW WILL BE THE ANNIVERSARY OF THE PREMIER BACK IN 2010. WE STILL WATCH OCCASIONALLY AS WE CAN NOT GET ENOUGH OF SHERYL UNDERWOOD WHO JUST LIGHTS UP THE SET EVERY DAY.  WITH CHANGE SOMETIMES COMES LOSS & WE USED TO FORCE OURSELVES TO SIT & WATCH EVERYDAY BUT NOW WE CATCH IT WHEN WE CAN.  BE ALL YOU CAN BE TODAY LADIES.

IT HAS BEEN A WHILE SINCE I HAVE BEEN ABLE TO SIT DOWN AND CATCH AN EPISODE OF "THE TALK."  SARA GILBERT HAS REALLY SPREAD HER WINGS SINCE LEAH REMINI'S RELEASE FROM THE SHOW.  SHE IS MORE INVOLVED IN THE CONVERSATION AND SHOWS OFF HER HUMOR.  SHERYL UNDERWOOD IS STILL ON TOP OF HER GAME AND EASILY EXPRESSES HER LOVE OF THOSE WHO COME ON THE SHOW.  THOSE SHE GREW UP WATCHING OR MUSICALLY LISTENING TO PUT A HUGE SMILE ON HER FACE AD IT IS SO NICE TO SEE REALNESS AMONG THE ELITE.  STILL ON THE FENCE ABOUT AISHA TYLER AS THE FEELING THAT HOLLY ROBINSON PEETE SHOULD BE SITTING IN THAT SEAT.  SHE WAS THE CLASS OF THE SHOW AND IS MISSED.  SHARON OSBOURNE STILL IS THE WORST ANNOUNCER ON TELEVISION AND OFTEN HER APPROACH TO INTRODUCING GUESTS COMES OFF IN A RUDE WAY.  I DO NOT LIKE THE FACT THAT ALL THESE TALK SHOWS ARE JUST MIMI ADVERTISEMENTS FOR THE SHOWS THAT APPEAR ON THE STATION ATTACHED TO THE TALK SHOW.  SOON NBC WILL ALSO HAVE THEIR DAYTIME TALK SHOW SO THEY CAN PROMOTE THEIR SHOWS.  THE STATIONS NEED TO STOP LOOKING DOWN ON THEIR AUDIENCE, THEY ARE NOT THAT STUPID AND SHOULD NOT BE TREATED SO DEROGATORILY.

SHERYL UNDERWOOD NOW A FULL TIME MEMBER OF THE TALK WILL DEFINITELY KEEP SOME OF THE FANS THAT HAVE BEEN ON THE FENCE SINCE THE RELEASE OF HOLLY ROBINSON PEETE & LEAH REMINI.  I FIND HER A GENUINE PERSON BRINGING SINCERITY WITH A BOUNTIFUL COMEDY SPIRIT.  GIVEN MORE RESPONSIBILITY SHE HAS BEGUN TO ANNOUNCED GUESTS AS SHE DID TODAY WONDERFULLY FOR MARTINA McBRIDE.  NOW LETS TALK (NO PUN INTENDED) ON THE TABLE DISCUSSIONS WHICH HAVE BECOME LAME AND MORE GOSSIPY THAN AN OPEN FORUM TO DISCUSS ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING.  THEY DO NOT NEED TO BE CONTROVERSIAL BUT IT SEEMS TO MANY ISSUES ARE BEING DIVERTED TO THE GARBAGE INSTEAD OF TRUELY HAVING AN OPEN AGENDA.  THIS WAS ONE OF THE THINGS THAT DREW US TO THE SHOW.  QUICKLY, LET ME ADD THAT SINCE THE DEPARTURE OF REMINI, GILBERT HAS BEEN RELEASED FROM HER PRISON OF BULLYING AND HAS BEGUN TO PARTICIPATE FREELY WITHOUT BEING PUT DOWN AND MOCKED DAILY FROM HER CHAIR TO THE RIGHT.  HER HUMOR IS IN ABUNDANCE AND SHE SPEAKS FREELY WITH THE GREAT SPIRIT THAT EVERYONE KNEW EXISTED WITHIN HER.  EXCELLENT JOB "TIP OF THE HAT" GOES TO GILBERT AND UNDERWOOD.  KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK.

SADLY, I DO NOT SEE HOLLY ROBINSON PEETE ON THE PANEL TODAY AND LITTLE HAS BEEN MENTIONED.  HOLLY WAS SO MUCH BETTER AT TAKING OVER FOR JULIE CHEN WHEN SHE HAD A DAY OFF.  SHARON OSBOURNE IS SWEET BUT CAN NOT ORCHESTRATE THE SHOW.  LEAH REMINI HAS TO BE A LOAD OFF THE PRODUCERS AS SHE DID LITTLE TO WARM TO THE FANS.  HER CONSTANT MOCKING OF SARA GILBERT WHILE TRYING TO PLAY COOL ABOUT HER PERSONAL LIFESTYLE WAS OFTEN INSULTING. SHERYL UNDERWOOD IS EXTREMELY FUNNY AND WOULD HAVE BEEN PAIRED UP WELL WITH THE GROUP ELIMINATING ONLY LEAH REMINI FROM THE PANEL.  THIS HAS BECOME "THE VIEW" ALL OVER AGAIN WITH THE ONLY DIFFERENCE BEING THESE GIRLS SEEMED TO HAVE  REALLY CONNECTED.  THE ENTRANCE WAS ALWAYS AN ENTHUSIASTIC OPENING AND PUT THE RIGHT VIBE IN THE AIR.  THE PEOPLE WHO SHOULD BE FIRED ARE THE SOUND CREW WHO OFTEN PUSH THE APPLAUSE BUTTON TO THE PEAK AND JULIE CHEN WITH HER SOFT VOICE CAN HARDLY BE HEARD.  WHEN JULIE IS LETTING THE AUDIENCE KNOW WHO IS UP AFTER A BREAK IT IS IMPOSSIBLE AT TIMES TO EVEN HEAR WHAT SHE IS SAYING.  THE SOUND CREW LEAVES THE APPLAUSE VOLUME ON HIGH WAY TO FAR INTO THE RETURN OF COMMERCIAL BREAKS WHICH LEAVES US HAVING TO MENTALLY FIGURE OUT WHERE THE CONVERSATION IS HEADING.  UNSURE WHY SHARON IS STILL ON THE PANEL BUT SARA IS THE CREATOR AND JULIE IS THE WIFE OF THE PRESIDENT OF CBS SHALL WE SAY MORE.  THIS IS NO WAY IS TO SAY THAT SARA AND JULIE ARE NOT SOLID IN THEIR WORK ON THE SHOW BECAUSE THEIR PRESENCE IS CORE TO THE SHOW.  I MUST INCLUDE HOLLY ROBINSON PEETE AS A CORE MEMBER AND THE SHOW WILL STRUGGLE ONCE THE KIDS ARE SOLID IN SCHOOL AND HOUSEHOLDS GET BACK INTO THEIR ROUTINES.  THE AUDIENCE WILL FIND OTHER AVENUES FOR THIS TIME SLOT.

IT HAS BECOME IMPOSSIBLE TO NOT SAY SOMETHING ABOUT THE BULLYING THAT LEAH CONTINUES TO UNLEASH ON SARAH.  NOW LISTEN IT IS ONE THING THAT THEY HAVE AN UNDERLYING JOKE BECAUSE THEY VIEW THINGS DIFFERENTLY, BUT KIDS ARE HOME THEY ARE OFTEN LEFT TO WATCH SOME OF THE SHOW WHILE SAY MOM IS MAKING THEIR LUNCH.  THEY DO NOT SEE THIS AS FUN THEY SEE IT AS IT IS OKAY TO TALK DOWN AND BULLY THOSE YOU DO NOT AGREE WITH.  IS THIS THE KIND OF MOM SHE WANTS TO BE FOR HER DAUGHTER, I DONT THINK SO.  SHE WILL TALK ABOUT HOW HORRIBLE BULLYING IS BUT SHE IS THE BIGGEST THUG ON DAYTIME TALK SHOWS.  I DONT WATCH "THE VIEW" FOR THAT EXACT REASON AND BOW I AM FINDING IT HARD TO TOLERATE HER DOUBLE STANDARD.  HER ACTIONS ARE OFTEN REFLECTIVE OF A HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT NOT AN ADULT WITH A CHILD WHO SHOULD JUST KNOW BETTER

--THE JUDDS
LEAH HAD SAID ON A COMMERCIAL PROMOTING THE PREMIER OF THE TALK THAT SARA WAS THE SMART ONE.  BUT LEAH'S INTELLIGENCE SHINED THROUGH AS SHE LISTENED AND SPOKE WITH HONESTY AND VALUABLE THOUGHT TO WYNONNA JUDD CONCERNING THE MOTHER/DAUGHTER STRUGGLES THAT NOW PLAY OUT ON THEIR NEW SHOW "THE JUDDS" ON THE NEW NETWORK OWN: THE OPRAH WINFREY NETWORK.  SHE BEGAN AN INCREDIBLE DIALOGUE WITH WYNONNA THAT WAS NOT PREACHY OR DIS RESPECTABLE.  BUT LEAH SEEMED TO FEEL THIS WAS NOT HER PLACE AND QUICKLY BROKE OFF THE CONVERSATION.  REMINI WAS ASTONISHING WITH THE THINGS SHE WAS SAYING AND REALLY SHOULD HAVE CONTINUED HER LINE OF CONVERSATION.

AGAIN LEAH REMINI SURPRISES ME WITH HER COMPASSION.  AT THE END OF TODAY'S SEGMENT WHERE THEY PLAYED A VIDEO THAT ALLOWED HOLLY AND RODNEY PEETE TALK ABOUT THE CHALLENGE OF BEING PARENTS OF A CHILD WITH AUTISM.  AS THE SEGMENT VIDEO CAME TO AN END AND THE CAMERA WAS ON HOLLY WHO WAS MOVED BY THE MEMORIES OF HOW FAR THEY HAD COME, LEAH GOT UP FROM ACROSS THE SOFA AND HUGGED HOLLY.  SHE COMES OFF LIKE THE REPLACEMENT OF REGIS PHILBIN BUT THERE ARE TIMES LIKE THESE THAT HER HEART SHINES THROUGH.

--JUSTIN BEIBER IS SURROUNDED BY THE WOMEN OF THE TALK AND HE HAD TO FEEL LIKE HE HAD 5 MOMS.  HE LOOKS LIKE THE BOY EVERY MOM WOULD WANT HER DAUGHTER TO BRING HOME.  HOPEFULLY HE DOES NOT PUT OUT THE BOOK YEARS FROM NOW ABOUT THE DARK SIDE OF THE FAME HE ENTERTAINS.  LEAH REMINI AS ALWAYS REMINDS ME OF THE KID WHO ALWAYS NEEDS TO BE THE CENTER OF ATTENTION.  THE YOUNGEST CHILD THAT NEVER GETS ENOUGH NOTICE.  SHE IS THE TORN IN THE SIDE AND NEVER COMES OFF AS ANYTHING BUT A BULLY.  I AM SURE THIS IS NOT HOW SHE IS IT IS JUST HOW SHE IS SEEN BY THE VIEWERS.  JUSTIN WAS MORE ADULT AT TIMES THAN THE FIVE WOMEN INTERVIEWING HIM.  IT OFTEN SEEMS TO BE THE CASE WHEN I THINK HE JUST WANTS TO BE TAKEN SERIOUSLY FOR HIS MUSIC.  HE ASCERTAINS A VERY GROWN-UP MENTALITY THAT INTERVIEWERS NEVER SEE AND LET HIM EXPAND ON.  THE ONLY THING THAT JUSTIN DOES THAT REMINDS YOU HE IS STILL A KID IS HIS CONSTANT TOUCHING OF HIS HAIR.  STAY GROUNDED...
