SON OF THE SUN was formed in 2007 by Joseph Stocker (guitar/keyboards) and Zac Ward (lead vocals/guitar). At the time, Stocker lived in New York and Ward was in California. They experimented and exchanged sound files online, leading to Before the After, their first E.P., in 2008. They expanded their duo, adding Jeremy Franklin (guitar), Steve Matthews (bass), and Brandon Delmont (drums) when Ward moved back to New York.

The Happy Loss was their first full length album and was released in 2010. They toured throughout that year, booking shows with national headlining acts that were performing in the Upstate New York area. This gave them the power to grow their fan base out beyond the borders of the Empire State.

Son of the Sun has just recently released a new EP called Almost Not There in June 2011. They are continuing to tour the east coast and Midwest in support of the album, opening for national headlining bands and becoming familiar faces in the local music scene and beyond.
