NICKELBACK
THE LONG ROAD
SEPTEMBER 23, 2003
Forget everything you know about this band and their earlier releases. This just takes the band to new heights combining major rock drums with heavy bass lines and spectacular guitar topped off with vocals that could dent a bullet. Chad loves his relationship-conscience lyrics but he takes a step into the sexually driven songs like: "Figured you Out" and "Feelin' way too Damn Good".
How much more impressive music can this band bring to the table with each and every release? How long can Chad Kroeger and crew dispense not only the hits but a start to finish skilled CD releases? There is not one bad song on this 11 track CD from one of the consistently A+ Rock bands on the radio. Rock's masterful contribution is NICKELBACK's The Long Road that makes us believe every day that rock lives in the veins of the youth.
"Side of a Bullet" is lyrically deep for Rock 'N Roll, but the grinding guitars balance out the sensitive words. Canadians question America at every turn, but as Americans we have to take the blows with much understanding that as free as we are, there is little we can control. Government and bankers control the world and encourage the little people who make everything grind to promote their needs. They do this by trying to convince us that if we follow them the world will be a better place.
The band is able to strategically take life experiences and convert them it into sensational lyrics that float dramatically over the driving music. This is a must have if you are a music collector. No one collecting music will be complete without this album. The question becomes: is there anything being released that has the potential The Long Road has? The answer is NO. "Ear Candy with a Punch" is the best description for this 2003 release. The radio airwaves will be full of NICKELBACK as they monopolize every playlist from the far East to the North Atlantic. There is not/has not been a rock band that ties up the radio as NICKELBACK will do with The Long Road.
