LEMURIA
GET BETTER

FEBRUARY 6, 2008

The opening track 'Pants' could not be better to catch the attention of listeners unfamiliar with the band.  It is obvious immediately that the lyrics "You Never Missed A Word I Tried To Fit, Inside A Chorus, Inside A Verse, All My Intros And The Bridge" are a reflection of the writer's thoughts while putting pen to paper.  Track 2 'Yesterday's Lunch' does not fare as well lyrically but the vocals often drift leaving the listener to think the singer could not sustain the ending of each line, which he does not.  Still, the sound from the vocals at the end of each line have an amazing quality that has no comparison.

'Lipstick' is lyrically b-side material but the drums and guitar give a great feel and make this track a good lead in to 'Buzz'.  This track almost picks up where "Lipstick' left off with guitar and drums pushing the envelope which does not get picked up again until 'Get Some Sleep'.

'dog' leaves behind the rest of the disc for some grunge guitar work with reflections of Soundgarden's "Loud Love."  The lyrics are few but the music will rock the speakers.  Vocally, Sheena Ozzella often sounds like Erin Roberts from another buffalo based band, "The Juliet Dagger".  Sheena's vocals are smooth and talk-singer style with no shouting or screaming at the listener.  Her style is more of a soothing, point making, singer songwriter than a demand you listen to me singer.  Ozzella makes you want to listen closer to what she has to say so pay close attention because lyrically she is growing.
