KINGSLEY FLOOD, which has been categorized by the New Yorker as “a modern brand of Americana”, was formed in Boston, Massachusetts. The band includes six members: Naseem Khuri (vocals/guitar); Jenee Morgan (violin/saxophone/vocals); Chris Barrett (trumpet/keys/percussion/vocals); George Hall (guitar/vocals); Steven Lord (drums/percussion/banjo); and Nick Balkin (bass/vocals).
The band’s energy is extremely contagious during their live performances. They draw in their audience with palpable enthusiasm and keep them engaged with a wide variety of styles and sounds, giving a show that leaves people with the catchy beats echoing in their head long after the music has stopped.
Their first album, Dust Windows, was recorded in Vermont and was released in 2010. It is very hard to find anything but amazing reviews of the album, and have since won a bunch of awards and recognitions, including New Artist of the Year in the 2010 Boston Music Awards.
Kingsley Flood released the single, “I Don’t Wanna Go Home” in May of 2011. It was featured as NPR’s “Song of the Day” and can be downloaded for free on their website.
Their latest EP is called Colder Still which will be released on December 8, 2011.
