COLORS IN THE AIR

MIRROR MIRROR

MAY 2, 2011

First impression: lyrically challenging and its not just about the music.  "Hell If I Know" is really the state of the world right now, so this song can be personal or worldwide 'You're Betting On a Hand, 'Cause You're Wanting So much more'.  Very powerful words in a time of unrest because don't we all run that through our brains every time we leave the house for work or fun.  It is impressive for such young minds to write from such a mature point of view in "seeing stars", which at first could be about meeting rock superstars, but it is an investment in life.

The writing depth does not depend fully on the lyrics as this band seems prepared to rock this town.  It will be a quick process to put this town under its belt and impact the long and winding roads that thread America.  songs like "Ungrateful" will be a great building block in a live set, putting the audience at ease with the melody that brings the song to an amazing climax before soothingly rolling to the end is classic rock stage theatre.

The blend of rock with passionate lyrics is a tricky mix that does not always work but colors in the air has a natural ability to bring the two together.   "No Photographs" reflects the listener back to the early days of the goo goo dolls who were lyrically captivating while the sounds they produced were crowd pleasing and were of anthem rock style caliber.
