BEADY EYE was formed in 2009 by former OASIS members Liam Gallagher (vocals), Gem Archer (guitar), Andy Bell (guitar) and Chris Sharrock (drums). The formation of the band was a result of Noel Gallagher quitting OASIS. The remaining members did not want to stop making music together and decided to create the new band.
William John Paul “Liam” Gallagher was the former frontman of Oasis, even though his elder brother, Noel Gallagher, wrote the majority of the songs. He has been noted as being one of the most recognizable figures in modern music due to his abrasive personality and eccentric behavior.
Colin Murray “Gem” Archer was originally the lead vocalist of the band HEAVY STEREO, who were known for opening for Oasis. In 1999, Archer joined Oasis playing rhythm guitar and contributed to the writing of some songs. He currently plays guitar, bass, keyboards, and sings backing vocals for Beady Eye.
Andrew Piran “Andy” Bell started our as the guitarist for the band RIDE in the 1990s. He then formed HURRICANE #1, leaving a few years later to become the guitar player for GAY DAD. Not long after that, he left that band to play bass for Oasis.
Chris Sharrock has played drums for a number of bands. His recording career began with THE ICICLE WORKS, THE LA'S, THE WILD SWANS, and WORLD PARTY. He then played with THE LIGHTNING SEEDS, DEL AMITRI, and a number of side projects until he eventually joined Oasis in 2008 when the previous drummer left the group.
Beady Eye released their debut studio album, Different Gear, Still Speeding, on February 28, 2011. The album was released on their own record label, Beady Eye Records Ltd., which was formed for the purpose of releasing their material in the UK and Ireland. Different Gear, Still Speeding was released in North America on March 1, 2011, on the Indie label Dangerbird Records.
They are currently touring and working on recording their second album, which is set to be released in the summer of 2012.
