Featuring the voices of: Jack Black(Po), Angelina Jolie(Tigress), Dustin Hoffman(Shifu), Jackie Chan(Monkey), Seth Rogen(Mantis), Lucy Liu(Viper), David Cross(Crane), James Hong(Dad) and Gary Oldman as the bad guy (or swan if you will).
So, we pick up where Kung Fu Panda 1 left off. Po is the Kung Fu warrior who fights evil all across China with his friends and fellow Jade Palace roommates, the Furious Five. Quirky, cute good guy surrounded by serious Kung Fu friends who endearingly make it all work. Po has begun to wonder about his Dad, the goose, and why he is the only Panda around. Word comes to the Jade Palace of a new bad guy with a new threat to China.
Kung Fu Panda 2, like too many sequels, tries to follow the same outline of its successful first edition. There are new characters, a new bad guy and more info about who Po is, but basically it is the same as Kung Fu Panda 1 with more fighting and fewer good messages. My 5 year old says she likes it as much as the first, but we will see if it stands the test of time once we have it at home. Little bit of inside tip... literally the last minute of the movie offers a very interesting plot twist. Hope Kung Fu Panda 3 finds a bit more of the original charm.
