JULY'S LATEST GRIPE 7/31/11

Preparing to make the move to California has been an immense undertaking and due to that fact we were not going to have a going away party.  Fortunately we had entered a giveaway from 97 Rock while @ Artpark and won so this was going to be our going away party.  After I returned the phone call to 97 Rock they sent me a follow-up e-mail that included a separate attachment with everything that would be included complete with buffet menu.  It was a process figuring out a date as we are so busy while picking one that could accommodate our friends hectic summer schedules.  We arrive at the Buckin Buffalo Saloon just before 6pm excited that along with us our friends would receive 2 Free Drinks, Free Buffet & a complimentary $20 Gift Certificate to Buffalo Chophouse.  The 97 Rock table is to the right of the door as we enter so I head over to let them know our party would be arriving shortly.  They put an X on my hand while I ask if this mark is how the bartenders will know who we are.  The man marking my hand gives me an odd look and informs me that the drinks were 2 for 1, the Gift Certificates did not exist but we could still get in line for the Buffet.  The gentleman behind the 97 Rock table said that sometimes Gift Certificates arrive but they do not know which ones may show up later in the evening.  He goes on to tell me I must have received the wrong e-mail and to have a good time.  It seems we had been duped into FREE FREE FREE A.K.A. SPEND SPEND SPEND.  The man at the table went as far as saying the e-mail obviously was meant for someone else.  I explained that i spoke to someone on the phone after receiving a voice mail from 97 Rock explaining about my win.  The woman went over all the information about what i needed to do and what our group would be entitled to when they arrive @ Buckin Buffalo Saloon.  The buffet is a standard every Friday night so there really was not even any win there either as it was open to everyone.  I can see now why i was picked from this box and not the Darien Lake concert ticket box.  Having lived in Buffalo, NY for over 47 years this will be one of the last memories I have.

As I always say when I get treated badly or screwed over as I feel happened in this case "do they know I have a web site?"  It is not easy to get away with things of this nature as the internet has opened the door for people to bring light to bad business practices.  Most people who know me or are loyal fans of our web site know I am not a big fan of radio and this would have been a great opportunity to bring me back to the dark side.  My MP3 player could possibly be collecting dust at this moment had my experience been a better one.  That will not be the case as again I find myself with the same bad feelings toward radio that I have carried for many years.  Now instead of 97 Rock appearing on my Kudos page with high-fives of adulation they will stay locked on our Gripes page.
