ANTHONY HOROWITZ
BLOODY HOROWITZ
Anthony Horowitz is the successful author of the Alex Rider series. Admittedly, this reviewer has yet to dive into the popular series but having read this collection of short stories the only word that comes to mind can be “intrigued.” This author has an incredible sense of suspense from the child’s mind. When children dwell over things that have happened, or are about to happen, Horowitz nails exactly where the mental scenes can take them.
Horowitz’s first short is titled “The Man Who Killed Darren Shan.” If you are a fan of the series “The Darren Shan Sage” the thought to skip the very twisted introduction can cross the reader’s mind. Do not even give this idea a second thought because it sets the pace for each story. It puts the reader in the proper mindset to complete each story with anticipation of the next.
Bet Your Life, You Have Arrived, The Cobra, Robo-Nanny, Bad Dream, My Bloody French Exchange, Shebay, Are You Sitting Comfortably?, Plugged In, Power, The X Train And Seven Cuts round out the montage of stories that appear within the binding of this book.
I would not recommend this book for kids under 12 years of age. For all kids 12 and over, pick it up, and parents beware they may never be able to put it down… literally! The blame will go directly to Anthony Horowitz and the positive words that lay within this review have only come because after reading the final story, there is no alternative but to show this author and his work in a positive light. For I value my life and wish only to appease the author if only to save myself.
