DAVID ELLIS
BREACH OF TRUST
FEBRUARY 3, 2011
A REVIEW WILL POST SOON!!!!
Jason Kolarich is a dedicated criminal defense lawyer awaiting the trial of State Senator Hector Almundo and the birth of his first child. The trial involves a murder, street gangs, a witness for the F.B.I. and illegal campaign contributions. Jason finds Ernesto Ramirez, a counselor and former gang member who holds the key to the case. Jason’s refusal to take no for an answer during the investigation results in three deaths.
Six months later, Hector is free of all charges. He tries to repay Jason by getting him a job with Charlie Cimino on the state’s Procurement and Construction board. The author opens a window to the readers in the world of politics and corruption. Jason joins the governor’s team to find a murderer when the F.B.I. targets Jason and enlists his help for a sting operation. Jason is a man who has nothing to lose, and his attitude gets him into trouble while his ability to think on his feet helps him out. The adventure is fast-paced and makes the reader think.
I recommend Breach of Trust. The character Jason is reminiscent of Sam Spade. The readers find themselves rooting for him and trying to solve the crime with him. I have to admit that the end had a surprise even for me.
David Ellis does a great job of bringing the legal and political world alive. He draws on his experience as an impeachment prosecutor who convicted an Illinois governor.
