L.A. BANKS:


She was the pen name of Leslie Esdaile Banks under which she writes The Vampire Huntress Legend Series. The other names under which she writes are Leslie Esdaile, Leslie Banks and Leslie Esdaile Banks. Her writing spans many genres, including non-fiction, dark fantasy/horror, African American literature, romance, women’s fiction, and crime suspense.


She was born on December 11, 1959 in Philadelphia, where she currently lives with her daughter, writing full-time. She announced in June of 2011 that she had been diagnosed with late stage adrenal cancer, and her family opened up a charity fund in her name. A series of auctions were started to donate to the fund, and many people donated such as Charlaine Harris and Heather Graham.


Banks has written over 40 novels and 12 novellas and has won numerous awards for her writing. She was recently featured on the HBO Special on Vampire Literature and Legends, which aired before the premier of the new season of True Blood.
